GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY.
Jail Mary Confessional — January 12
Good gawd almighty.
That’s not a prayer.
That’s a reaction.
It’s what slips out when January keeps January-ing long after the motivation posts stop working.
Because by now, we’ve all realized something important:
This wasn’t a “fresh start.”
This was just the same life… with louder expectations.
THE CONFESSIONAL
January 12 is where the truth lives.
The planners are already ignored.
The routines didn’t stick.
The house is still loud.
The energy is already thin.
And the internet is still yelling:
“New habits!”
“New discipline!”
“New mindset!”
Meanwhile, I’m standing here holding the same iced coffee, staring at the same mess, thinking:
Good gawd almighty… we’re already tired.
This is the point where the glow wears off and reality taps you on the shoulder like:
“Hey. It’s still you. Let’s be honest now.”
JANUARY LIES WE WERE SOLD
Let’s clear a few things up.
January didn’t:
-
erase exhaustion
-
heal burnout
-
reorganize your nervous system
-
or magically make life quieter
You don’t suddenly have more capacity because the calendar changed.
And if you’re already feeling behind, unmotivated, overstimulated, or irritated?
That’s not weakness.
That’s awareness.
WHAT “GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY” REALLY MEANS
Where I’m from, good gawd almighty isn’t dramatic.
It’s grounding.
It’s the pause between chaos and composure.
It’s the moment you realize:
“Okay. This is a lot. But I’m still here.”
It’s not surrender.
It’s acknowledgment.
It’s saying:
-
I see the pressure
-
I feel the weight
-
and I’m not pretending otherwise
That’s what this space is for.
Jail Mary Confessional isn’t here to motivate you through January.
It’s here to tell the truth while you survive it.
A MID-JANUARY PERMISSION SLIP
You don’t need to:
-
catch up
-
fix yourself
-
explain your pace
-
or force progress that isn’t ready
You are allowed to be in the middle of things.
Still tired.
Still learning.
Still showing up imperfectly.
January doesn’t get to rush you just because it showed up loud.
THE BENEDICTION
May you stop measuring your worth by productivity.
May you release the pressure to “be better” before you feel steadier.
May you remember that surviving counts.
If today feels heavy, say it out loud.
Good gawd almighty.
And keep going anyway.
